The Division of Materials and Waste Management ensures that non-hazardous wastes are managed in accordance with the applicable regulations. In addition to a traditional regulatory program, the division’s responsibilities include establishing and implementing statewide waste reduction, recycling, recycling market development and litter prevention programs for non-hazardous wastes. Regulations are in development to encourage the beneficial use of industrial byproducts to preserve resources, conserve energy and reduce the need for additional landfills. The division also oversees state and local planning for long-term solid waste management.

A compound found in green tea could improve the cognitive abilities of those with Down’s syndrome, a team of scientists has discovered. Researchers found epigallocatechin gallate – which is especially present in green tea but can also be found in white and black teas – combined with cognitive stimulation, improved visual memory and led to more adaptive behaviour. Dr Rafael de la Torre, who led the year-long clinical trial along with Dr Mara Dierrssen, said: “The results suggest that individuals who received treatment with the green tea compound, together with the cognitive stimulation protocol, had better scores in their cognitive capacities”

I am so disappointed to see that Harvard Medical spreading information that could cause a lifetime brain damage to a fetus and jeopardizing international effort leaded by NIAAA! The study mentioned in the article is still unpublished and if it would be published it will get its harvest. Majority of studies around the World show us that we are severely underestimating this risk. Yes, there is chance to have a healthy looking baby and the rest of your lives wonder why he or she behaves so unsocial. And weather this kids could become Einstein, Curie or Mozart if only Mom was not surrounded by “kindly permissive” media and aggressive alcohol advertising.

You're looking at this page, which means you want to quit. That's the good news. The not-so-good news is that quitting is hard. It's a truth that is painful, and one shouldn't sugar-coat it. The great news is that medical technology, integrated communities, and effective psychological counseling have made it easier than ever to quit. If you feel that you drink too much, there are many benefits of sobriety: preventing strokes , losing weight , avoiding hangovers , and reducing the likelihood of liver disease are only a few beside a general uptick in overall health.
